'Something serious' is going on in China amid Peng Shuai's disappearance: Bolt 2 months 4 days ago #116

Disgusting behaviour by former vice premier of China  Zhang Gaoli and the China authorities. Thanks to tennis player Novak Djokovic for exposing this.

Something serious is going on in China amid the disappearance of the country's tennis star Peng Shuai, according to Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

Earlier this month, Peng wrote on Weibo - China’s equivalent of Twitter - that former Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli had “forced” her to have sexual relations with him after she played tennis at his house.

The 35-year-old has reportedly been missing since she uploaded the post on November 2, which was immediately taken down by China’s heavily censored internet.

Top tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka have expressed concerns for her welfare after she seemingly vanished nearly two weeks ago.

An email has since been received by the WTA, alleged to have been written by Peng Shuai, alleging "everything is fine" and that her sexual assault allegations "were not true".

WTA Chairman and CEO Steve Simon said he had a "hard time believing" the email attributed to Peng is from her, raising further concerns about the safety of the Wimbledon champion.

"So where is she," Mr Bolt said.

"She accused one of China's leaders of rape and now she's disappeared – this cannot stand.

"China is holding the Winter Olympics next year. I wonder – will the athletes there make a stand for one of their own?"
